Neil established Environmental Toolbox Training, a company which specialises in tailoring practical training modules to assist industry communicate their environmental, safety, dangerous goods and risk management responsibilities to staff.

During the past decade he has developed and continues to deliver the subjects 'Environmental Management Systems' and 'Engineering for a Sustainable Environment' within Melbourne University’s Masters of Environmental Engineering. He also presents a one week intensive Certificate IV Course in Onsite Environmental Management for industry.

Neil has extensive experience and understanding of the interactions between industry, authorities, legislation and corporate requirements across a broad range of risk management issues.

A large part Neil's career has been responding to chemical fires, chemical spills and environmental incidents. As Coordinator of the Emergency Response unit for the Victorian Environmental Protection Authority, he ensured the EPA efficiently fulfilled its responsibilities under the Victorian State Disaster Plan and the Victorian Marine Pollution Contingency Plan. Ensuring safe working operations for EPA’s emergency and field staff was an important part of this responsibility. In this role he developed and delivered numerous emergency response and safety training courses.

Neil was Manager of the Occupational Health and Environmental Services for Richard Oliver International, an Australian company providing risk management services across a broad range of engineering disciplines. He co-ordinated advice and services to a client base including major Australian and global manufacturing industries. Working closely with senior management teams he conducted risk surveys on substantial corporate divestments, acquisitions programs and stock exchange floats. When environmental auditing was first introduced to the Asia region he presented training programs for corporate clients and commercial seminars throughout Australia, New Zealand and Asia. Working with Richard Oliver Underwriting Managers he assisted in the establishment of the first Australian based facility for Cost Cap Remediation Insurance.

As Trade Waste Technologist for the Melbourne Metropolitan Board of Works, he provided advice on industrial chemical processes, waste treatment apparatus and the technical criteria for discharge to the sewer.

Neil is a skilled communicator and with ability to engage participants. He draws on his risk management experience to ensure training modules have interesting content, hands-on demonstrations and practical learning outcomes.
